Florals...for spring? Groundbreaking

I know what you're thinking, and I thought the same. "florals....REALLY?"

I have hated floral patterns for so long, you don't even have an idea. The thought of someone looking good on floral patterns only brought images of grannies on floral themed dresses, wearing sandals with socks and big basket hats, it was a complete and utherly big NO.

However this patterns have taken runways and above it all streets (Yes I do consider street more than runway) by storm on 2010, with lots of heavenly pretty girly dresses, bags and jackets. After this cold season that makes everyone wear big coats and dark colours is sort of a relief to see some cheering up like this, we can honestly say we didn't see it comming since it was pretty freaking obvious to wear flowers on spring, but hey! that was the surprise after all.

Reading and scouting I learned that florals can be worn in a special kind of way that will make even the biggest and baddest granny dress into a soft, delicate piece of heaven.

Here are top 3 advices on how to wear florals this spring.

SIZE OF THE PATTERN

When wearing any kind of pattern is always imperative to know which size of pattern looks better on you, because you don't want to go around looking like a freaking flower garnished keiko.

If you're small in height, try to stick to patterns that are smaller, the bigger the pattern the smaller you'll look. If you choose to wear big patterns it will seem like you're drowning in a pool of flowers, and that's not sexy.

Take a hint of what Nancy Z is doing in here:

NANCY Z
She looks fresh, young and girly.

If you're tall try looking for patterns that are more scattered through the garnment, that way you'll look your size and not like you tried to put your little sisters clothes. Sort of what Mayo W is doing here

MAYO W

She threw a cute pair of heels on and she got completely rid of the grandma look she could have gotten by wearing flower patterns. She looks femenine and ethereal.

STYLE AND TAYLORING

By all means, avoid old style tayloring on dresses, and start fresh with something more fitted to your body. Now I'm not telling you to go buy a dress, if you have a granma dress that you think looks timeless but has no shape you can add shape to it with a simple stitches on the waist or with a simple cardigan like what Becky L is doing here

BECKY L

Also you don't have to wear a whole dress to get into this springs trends.
Grab a scissor and turn that old frumpy dress into a magical skirt like Veronica F

VERONICA F

You can also go ahead and buy one or do it yourself, just buy enough of your favourite patterned fabric and get your hands to it, the sky is the limit!

At the same time you can go to your nearest favourite trend shop and get a pair of floral leggins/jeans and sport it out like Shan S does in here:

Or brake the mold by getting a floral vest or jacket, they will look amazing if convined well like Lola R did in here:

LOLA R

Remember that anytime that you wear any of this kind of patterns you MUST keep the other things you wear with it simple and solid. Otherwise you'll end up looking like fugly wallpaper.

ACCESORIZE

It's ok if you want to wear a simple floral dress with a cardigan on top and most of the time that will be more than enough to look stylish, but if you want to make it pop, wear an awesome belt,a hat, a necklace or something as simple as a great pair of bracelets.
